DR SHOBHIT BAIJAL
I am a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. I obtained a BSc Honours in immunology and cell pathology from University College London, before graduating with a medical degree from St. Bartholomew’s Medical School in 2001. I then returned to the Midlands to complete my general medical and oncology training and took up post as Consultant Medical Oncologist in September 2011.
I actively treat lung, colorectal and liver cancer patients at the Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull sites. I specialise in all forms of cancer drug treatments including chemotherapy, immuno-oncology, precision oncology and chemo-embolisation.
I have a large clinical trial portfolio and I am the UK Chief Investigator and Principle Investigator for national and international clinical trials. The trial portfolio spans all stages of disease from early stage to late stage incorporating novel drugs and therapies. I am at the forefront of the clinical utility of liquid biopsy in diagnosing and managing lung and colorectal cancer patients and I have several studies underway in this context.
I have numerous publications and regularly present at regional, national and international cancer meetings.
I am on the BTOG Steering Committee and also sit on the advisory panel for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. I work and collaborate with cancer charities such as ALK and EGFR positive UK.
I aim to deliver cutting edge, individualised and evidence based cancer treatments for patients whilst ensuring their health and wellbeing is also prioritised.
